Uran Kabashi

(he/him) Haibayo Cares Program Manager

Uran is a hip-hop artist, activist and marketing professional from Chicago. He
was born in Kosovo, and immigrated to Chicago as a refugee in 1999
where he developed his love for music and his passion for justice. Having been forced from his home due to ethnic cleansing and war, his early years are a constant reminder of the forces of evil and the hope of positive change in our tumultuous world. He is one of the founders of Elephant Rebellion, an artist collective based in Uptown Chicago which focuses on developing socially conscious art with peers and Chicago youth. Uran believes in the power to create social change through art and education and is an activist for a more just world. Uran graduated from Loyola University with a Marketing and Philosophy degree. As a multi-talented artist, Uran is developing his emceeing, production, audio engineering and video editing skills. He is experienced in facilitating educational workshops based on identity, Know Your Rights, beat-making, music production, and many more. He has also held various marketing roles in corporate jobs (Aprimo, Morningstar) and is working on starting up a digital media agency.
