KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

Your Guide to the Juvenile Justice System ✨

Created by Marjorie Moss and illustrated by Elgin Bokari, Executive Director of Stomping Grounds Literary Arts Initiative, this impactful zine has reached over 1,500 court-involved youth since its publication on November 9, 2011.

🛠️ Teaching Tool for EmpowermentThis zine serves as a critical guide for youth navigating interactions with law enforcement and the juvenile justice system in Illinois. While it remains a valuable resource, it’s crucial to stay updated on current laws and policies to ensure safety and awareness.

🎤 Know Your Rights Project

Alongside the zine, the project features an amazing rap by youth advocates, outlining the 10 major steps for youth dealing with police encounters. This creative approach remixes Biggie Smalls' classic “10 Crack Commandments” to deliver knowledge in a relatable way.
