Mission / Vision
Our programs operate in a variety of settings—inside juvenile centers, in local neighborhoods, and online—fostering connection and growth. We believe in the transformative power of storytelling and creativity.

Long Term Goal: Foster resilience, self-determination, and practical skills for incarcerated and criminalized youth through creative arts, leading to healing, personal growth, and successful reentry into society.

Mission
Stomping Grounds Literary Arts Initiative (SGLAI) is an arts and literacy incubator that immerses young people in the creative arts, fostering their personal growth, reflection, and the opportunity to take charge of their own lives. SGLAI does this by providing resources, mentorship, and community in the Chicago area through online networks and, most importantly, within youth-incarcerated spaces.
Vision
A world where young people who are incarcerated or at risk for criminalization have all the opportunities they need to succeed in the creative arts, and in life.
